Dr. Ash B. Diwan grew up in the Northern Virginia area where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He did his undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where he received a Masters in Physiology and Biophysics and went on to earn his medical degree at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Diwan did his residency at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He subsequently moved to the Kansas City Area where he worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, the University of Kansas Medical Center where he won Best Teacher and Best Faculty Member and then at Menorah Medical Center. He has been with Mid-America Polyclinic since 2017. Dr. Diwan has advanced training in musculoskeletal ultrasound which enables more accurate and effective treatment of peripheral joint and musculoskeletal disease. He is an Advanced Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. and is dual Board Certified in both Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine and has been treating the epidemic of opioid dependence and addiction for over 14 years. In addition to treating patients in the clinical setting, Dr. Diwan is a national speaker on opioid addiction and also participates in clinical research. He is passionate about combating the crisis of opioid addiction and overdose and in utilizing non-opioid medications, the judicious and appropriate use of opioid medications and interventional and adjunctive treatments to enhance the function and the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic pain.
